Top Secret Directions from Upper Montgomery County
Yes...it is actually possible to make it to Perry's in 50 minutes EVEN DURING
RUSH HOUR by using these simple but highly secret directions.
These are the routes the pros use during rush hour to get from Montgomery
County over to points east. Perhaps someday, once the long long long
overdue Intercounty Connector gets built, these directions will no longer be
necessary, but until the politicians pull their heads out of the sand and look
around, these will have to do!
From Rockville:
- From the Rockville mixing bowl (Route 355 & Route 28), take Route 28
east. Be aware that Route 28 makes a left turn just after going over
the railroad tracks.
- Cross Georgia Ave, pass Leisure World...stay on Route 28
- At the light at New Hampshire Ave Route 28 becomes Route 198.
- Continue straight on Route 198
- Stay on Route 198 all the way through Laurel and out the other side.
- Route 198 ends at Route 32. Take Route 32 east towards Annapolis
-
Go to the next exit and take Route 175 (Annapolis Rd) towards Odenton (stay to
right of ramp)
-
Go about 1.5 miles (3 lights) and Perry's will be on left.
- During non-rush hour periods it might be quicker
to get on I-95 north before Laurel and go up two exits to Route 32 east, and
proceed from there, but traffic is pretty heavy northbound during rush hour.
From Damascus / Gaithersburg / Germantown:
The key from this area is to get over to Route 108,
which runs all the way from Damascus to Columbia. It roughly follows the
route that the as-yet unbuilt Intercounty Connector will take.
From the Damascus area you can just take Route 108 right out of
town.
From the Gaithersburg area you can either come across Goshen
Road to Route 108, or take Muncaster Mill Road to Derwood and turn LEFT on
Muncaster Road, and follow it to Route 108.
Those in Montgomery Village, can take Goshen Road to East Village Ave, turn
RIGHT on East Village Ave and follow until it ends at Route 124. Turn
RIGHT on Route 124 and turn LEFT at the next light at Fieldcrest
Rd. Follow this across to Route 108.
Once you're on Route 108
- Follow Route 108 East through Olney. At Olney Theater stay on Route
108 by bearing to the left, and follow up to the traffic light at New
Hampshire Ave in Ashton.
- Continue straight on Route 108 and go another 8 miles or so. In
Clarksville, turn RIGHT onto Route 32 east. There is a BIG sign
there...you can't miss it.
- Follow Route 32 east for about 10 miles. Eventually you'll pass the main
gate to Fort Meade at Route 198. Stay on Route 32
- Go to the next exit past the light at Route 198, which is Route
175. There is only one exit, which splits at the bottom of the exit
ramp. Stay to the right on the exit ramp and turn RIGHT onto Route
175
-
Go about 1.5 miles (3 lights) and Perry's will be on left.
